How to See a Specialist

In order to see a specialist you must have a referral letter from your general practitioner or another specialist. You will need to bring this referral letter with you on your consultation day.

GP referral letters usually have a twelve (12) month validity and specialist referrals generally are 3 months. Other clinical specialties require the referral letter to be current i.e. within 3-months from date of issue.

It is best to confirm what is required on your part with the specialist’s practice when you make your booking. See ‘What to Bring’ for more information.
