Research

St Vincent’s Clinic Foundation provides funds and support for research into matters of clinical importance. The Foundation recognised the difficulty that some researchers had in securing funding for new projects and the importance of providing the opportunity for clinicians to be involved in research.

Each year the St Vincent's Clinic Foundation awards annual research grants which are open to Medical and Allied Health Practitioners accredited to St Vincent's Clinic. Grants are awarded for a one-year period.  It is hoped that the initial Foundation Grant will enable sufficient research work to be undertaken so as to allow applications for other sources of funding (e.g. NHMR) to be successful.

St Vincent’s Clinic Foundation’s grants are aimed at:

  • Underpinning clinical excellence with basic medical research

  • Assisting researchers to develop research programmes to gather data to enable eligibility or external grants (eg NHMRC, government grants)

  • Supporting research on the St Vincent’s Campus

  • Allowing clinicians the opportunity to participate in research programmes

  • Strengthening the links between clinical work and research

  • Providing assistance to “up and coming” researchers.
