Dr Hong is an Asian
born Chinese Australian with over 30 years of diverse background in dentistry,
healthcare, government, community, associations and business.
Dr Hong started her
career in Australian healthcare as a dental surgeon in 1983, served as CEO of peak
associations for 15 years, and now runs her own Australia-Asia consulting
business, CH Asia Australia and is the Chairman of China HR Australia. Dr Hong
is Non Executive Director of Healthy North Coast, an Australian government
Primary Health Network initiative, and is a company Director and Adviser for
several Australian companies.
Her former roles
were CEO of the Australian Dental Association NSW & ACT in 1997 (first
woman and first Asian), CEO of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in
Medicine in 2001, and CEO of the SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) Association
of Australia in 2011.
She graduated with
a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide. She holds post
graduate qualifications, including the Graduate Diploma of Health Administration
from the University of South Australia (Business), Masters of Health
Administration) from the University of NSW (Medical) and Diploma in Company
Directors from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Dr Hong is a Fellow
of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Academy of
Dentistry International, Fellow of the Australasian Society of Association
Executives and Associate Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service
Dr Hong serves on
numerous Not-For Profit community and professional organisations. She is Board
Trustee for St Vincent’s Clinic Foundation since 2012, Ambassador for the St
Vincent de Paul CEO Sleepout charity event for homeless services, where she
participated for 8 consecutive years, Honorary Adviser of the Australian
Malaysian Singaporean Association, Adviser of the Australia China Economics,
Trade and Culture Association, Honorary Advisory Board member of the Ethnic
Business Awards, and Ambassador for Business Events Sydney.
She was former
board member of the North Sydney Community Service Ltd, former NSW Councillor
of the Australasian College of Health Service Management, former Vice President
of the Australian Society of Association Executives and past President of the
Australian Society of Endodontology (Dentistry) SA Branch, and former SME
Committee member of the Australia China Business Council.
Caroline is a
strong advocate for medical and healthcare research, women in business and
diversity on boards. She often mentors young graduate professionals as a
BDS (Uni Adel), GDHA (Uni SA), MHA (Uni NSW), FSAE, FADI, AFCHSM, FAICD
