SVPHS Redevelopment Updates - Noisy Works

Monday 13 May 2019, upcoming noisy works for the week. 

Level 4

  • Level 4 Foyer: construction of the new security office underway; removal of bronze artwork to commence soon


Works Impacting Multiple Levels

  • Western hoist for CSSD: Installing block work at lift shaft doors, including drilling. Steel work and grinding on Levels 4 & 5 – Level 3 DSU may experience some noise, level 4 & 5 may experience some smell from grinding
  • Eastern Hoist for CSSD: Installation of walls, drilling and hammering. Breakthrough of Level 8 door opening- Theatres, CSSD and ICU may experience noise
  • Phase B Scaffold installation – Installation complete by May 24th. Façade drilling will continue until then
  • Levels 10-9: western rooms fitout continues, zip wall removed; reception spaces complete; construction workers to share corridors for coming weeks; Handover of eastern rooms on 20th May
  • Level 8: western room fitout to commence Wednesday- Zip wall installed
  • Levels 6 & 7: Sheeting of walls, including drilling & sanding.
  • All levels: Electricians will be working in corridors at Electrical Distribution Boards
  • South fire stairs: works to be completed this week
  • Level 3: Old CSSD Demolition complete; construction of link ridge over clinic carpark to commence
  • Level 2: construction of additional laundry decanting room and storage space progressing well

Progress

  • No more tunnels required on levels 10-6
  • Reception on Levels 9 & 10 complete and have power and data; space will be occupied this week
  • Preparatory works for commissioning are ongoing, with Levels 10 & 9 first to open in late May

Possible disruption to clinic rooms

  •  Western hoist for CSSD: Saw cutting on L4 complete, all demolition scheduled to be completed by next week- clinic rooms, may experience loud noise which may be disruptive

Level 4

  • Level 4 exec area fit-out, including drilling and hammering- Same Day Centre may experience this noise

Level 5

  • L5 theatre reception:  new reception handed over last Friday. Old reception to be demolished this week

 

Works Impacting Multiple Levels

  • Phase B Scaffold installation (northern end)- drilling into building façade is ongoing, scheduled to be complete by end of the month
  • Levels 10-8: Level 8 corridor open; western rooms fitout continues, including floor grinding and hammer drilling; reception spaces almost complete
  • Levels 6 & 7: Eastern room fitout almost complete; corridor works progressing
  • All levels: Electricians will be working in corridors at Electrical Distribution Boards
  • North & South fire stairs: Upgrade continues- work involves floor grinding and handrail installation
  • Sterile Stock Room: floor grinding and vinyl laying- theatres and clinic rooms may experience some noise and odour from works
  • Level 4 exec area fit-out, building works complete, offices re-opening this week
  • Level 4 Foyer: Hoarding being installed this week to close the Sr Bernice Wing corridor, access via the Sr Francis (East) Wing corridor
  • Level 3: Old CSSD Demolition complete

 

Progress

  • I am pleased to report that tunnels on level 8 are now permanently closed; and reception joinery is being installed on Levels 10 & 9
  • Theatre reception has opened and the new patient entryway is complete
  • Preparatory works for commissioning are ongoing, with Levels 10 & 9 first to open in late May

Possible disruption to clinic rooms
  • Western hoist for CSSD: Saw cutting on L5 complete Tuesday 26th, moving to Level 4- clinic rooms, may experience loud noise which may be disruptive
  • Sterile Stock Room: floor grinding and vinyl laying- theatres and clinic rooms may experience some noise and odour from works
Level 4
  • Level 4 exec area fit-out, including drilling and hammering- Same Day Centre may experience this noise
Level 5
  • L5 theatre reception:  Joinery installation at new reception area- includes intermittent drilling and hammering
Works Impacting Multiple Levels
  • Phase B Scaffold installation (northern end)- drilling into building façade is ongoing- new façade on Level 10 will be revealed this week
  • Fit-out Levels 10 & 9: Western (Victoria St.) side- walls are going up, fit out of patient rooms continue; Ceiling and cabinetry at new reception areas- drilling and hammering noise will be heard
  • Levels 8-6: progression of works- this includes vinyl flooring which can be odorous
  • All levels: Electricians will be working in corridors at Electrical Distribution Boards
  • Central stairs- New Fire Hose Reels installed this week
  • North & South fire stairs: Upgrade continues- work involves floor grinding and handrail installation

  • Drilling around L5 theatre reception- fit out of new reception  & patient entry

  • Demolition from L6 down to L3- intermittent jackhammering
  • East Scaffold installation- L8-10 ongoing
  • Scaffold for stage A being stripped down
  • Continuation of fit-out L10-6- this includes vinyl and flooring which can be odorous on patient floors
  • Core hole drilling L4 & 5
  • Relocation of pipework which serves air conditioning- night works over the weekend

Notice for Saturday 9 March 2019, Level 5 Clinic Walkway Disruption.

Please be advised that this coming Saturday, March 9th, Buildcorp plan to carry out works on L5 at the point where the clinic meets the private hospital.This work involves patching the ceiling, where previous work has left holes in the plaster board.

In order to maintain staff, patient and worker safety, access will be blocked at 6am for approximately 4 hours. Access to / from between the Clinic and the Private Hospital will be via Level 4 and Level 3 during this time. In case of an emergency, access will still be available. Appropriate signage and fire isolation's will be in place.

  • Jackhammering of remaining ensuite pod hobs L5- Weekend work only- loud works to be carried out over the coming two Saturdays.

  • Jackhammering of remaining ensuite pod hobs L5- Weekend work only- loud works to be carried out over the coming two Saturdays
  • Core hole drilling L4 & 5
  • Core drilling (through slab) and masonry drilling Level 6 is ongoing
    East Scaffold installation L9- drilling into building façade
  • Continuation of fit-out L10-6- this includes vinyl and flooring which can be odorous on patient floors
  • Works on roof to prepare for waterproofing, including jackhammering
  • Concrete cutting and drilling into steel L5 sterile store - Theatres will be affected by noise
