National Volunteer Week 2025

21st May, 2025

In a world where our time and effort are often exchanged for something tangible, it’s easy to overlook the immense value of giving without expecting anything in return.

National Volunteer Week reminds us to reflect that some of the most meaningful rewards come from the heart: purpose, connection, and impact.

Open Support is a community service of St Vincent’s Clinic. Open Support is committed to providing support to women and their children escaping domestic and family violence, and people experiencing social isolation and loneliness.

The Open Support Gift Shop is run by our dedicated shop coordinator, Gina, and powered by a generous team of volunteers. These individuals generously give their time to a space where 100% of proceeds go directly toward Open Support initiatives.

This National Volunteer Week, we encourage you to reflect on what it means to give - without expectation, but with great impact.

In the video below you will meet Ros, a regular face in the shop, who shares her thoughts on what volunteering truly means. Her words speak to the quiet power of giving your time and giving back to the community. Gina also expresses deep admiration for the volunteers, highlighting just how important they are to the mission of Open Support.

Watch the short video below to hear from Ros and Gina. We hope stories such as these inspire you to consider lending a helping hand.
