Dr Hamish Urquhart You are here:HomeGovernanceBoard of DirectorsDr Hamish Urquhart Dr Urquhart is a specialist colorectal surgeon based at St Vincent’s Clinic, St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Public Hospital. Dr Urquhart has a subspecialty focus on treatment of colon, rectal, and anal cancer. He also provides treatment for high grade anal lesions with radiofrequency ablation, being one of two surgeons in Australia providing this treatment. Dr Urquhart also has a subspecialty interest in diverticulitis and abdominal wall hernia surgery. Dr Urquhart is the director of surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and is also the network director for the St Vincent’s General Surgery formal training programme. Dr Urquhart completed his general surgery training in 2015, for which he subsequently completed four subspecialty colorectal fellowship years with the last two of these being in the highly regarded Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand, where he completed advanced colorectal surgical training techniques. Dr Urquhart completed his postgraduate medical degree at the University of Sydney, and is also a qualified mechanical and biomedical engineer, achieving first class honours for both degrees. Dr Urquhart has been the recipient of the highly regarded Engineers Australia Excellence Award for Innovation after developing several patents for biomedical devices in both Australia and the United States. Dr Urquhart established the Sydney Colorectal Clinic at St Vincent’s Clinic to facilitate a combined approach for colon, rectal, and anal cancer treatment, with the intent of providing a holistic approach for medical oncology, radiation oncology, gastroenterology, colorectal surgeon, and specialist allied health, aiming to deliver a seamless approach to cancer and surgical care.
